Wood Anemone

Anemone nemorosa

This beautiful little plant is somewhere between a perennial and a groundcover. The small patch near our front door has grown slowly but steadily since we moved in years ago. It’s one of the first plants to emerge in early spring and gives me hope that winter is finally coming to an end! By summer the leaves start to get rusty and die back, but it’s quickly obscured as the surrounding Hostas fill in.

Reliable, beautiful, drought tolerant – great spring visitor. Grows well in its partly shaded spot.

    About Me

Hi! I'm Lorie and I wrangle plants in a muddy, feral shade garden in the Pacific Northwest. I built this site to serve as a gardening journal and quasi-accurate record of planting successes and failures. My goal is to help "future me" be a better gardener. I hope what I've learned along the way can be useful to you too. Thanks for visiting!
