Tricolor European Beech

Fagus sylvatica 'Roseo Marginata'

Even though this sun lover is sited on the north side of our house, it sits about 10 feet out from the wall and so gets a good amount of direct sun as it tracks across the sky in summer. I normally would have gone for at least a part-sun tree, but when I saw the spectacular leaf coloring I had to have it.  Normally a slow grower anyway, it’s grown approximately 0 inches in one year, so we’ll see if it actually puts on height in the next few years.

    About Me

Hi! I'm Lorie and I wrangle plants in a muddy, feral shade garden in the Pacific Northwest. I built this site to serve as a gardening journal and quasi-accurate record of planting successes and failures. My goal is to help "future me" be a better gardener. I hope what I've learned along the way can be useful to you too. Thanks for visiting!
