Schipka Laurel

AKA: Skip Laurel, Cherry Laurel

Prunus laurocerasus 'Schipkaensis'

I’m still unclear whether a Schipka laurel is the same as a cherry laurel, but anyhow the nursery tag said this would produce black cherry-like fruit. Win for the birds but perhaps not the fence? Hopefully it’s far enough away to prevent staining at least for a few years! I went with this shrub as it’s supposed to perform well in shade, and may not be as vigorous as English laurel.

    About Me

Hi! I'm Lorie and I wrangle plants in a muddy, feral shade garden in the Pacific Northwest. I built this site to serve as a gardening journal and quasi-accurate record of planting successes and failures. My goal is to help "future me" be a better gardener. I hope what I've learned along the way can be useful to you too. Thanks for visiting!
