Weeping Japanese Snowbell ‘Momo Shidare’

Styrax japonica 'Momo Shidare'

This plant was tagged as ‘Momo shidare’ which is a synonym for ‘Marley’s Pink’, but the flowers are not very pink, so I’m wondering if it may actually be ‘Pink chimes’. Photos I’ve found of that cultivar show pink pedicel and sepals with white flowers, similar to the plant I bought.

    Nursery Tag

Light shade to full sun. Zones 5 - 9. Narrower form than most. 'Momo shidare' may reach 8-10 ft in height by 3-4 ft in width in 10 years.

The characteristics are that of Marleys pink. The flowers can be a very pale to darker pink- I think it depends on the sunlight the tree receives. I have one planted in back of my house and I adore it.

Hi Kasey, thanks for the confirmation! Ours is in quite a bit of shade, so maybe that’s why the flowers are so white. Thanks for posting!
