Striped Water Iris

Iris laevigata 'Variegata'

This beautiful, shade-tolerant iris is doing great in a part-sun spot situated directly in water! It has a tendency to spread in wet areas which is why I kept it in its original pot. Which it doesn’t mind a bit. Two beautiful flowers have popped up so far this year (2018) and I suspect I’ll get a few more in the coming weeks. Its variegated linear leaves provide such a great contrast to the surrounding greenery that I’m tempted to divide and plant it in the soil around the little pond it’s trying to burst out of.

      About Me

Hi! I'm Lorie and I wrangle plants in a muddy, feral shade garden in the Pacific Northwest. I built this site to serve as a gardening journal and quasi-accurate record of planting successes and failures. My goal is to help "future me" be a better gardener. I hope what I've learned along the way can be useful to you too. Thanks for visiting!
