Fuchsia ‘Tom West’

Fuchsia 'Tom West'

This plant died!

I guess this one was not meant to be, it has disappeared completely from the spot I planted it in.

I originally purchased this amazing variegated fuchsia along with our Bruns serbian spruce, thinking it would look great paired with the conifer and purple coral bells. However the color and pattern on this variety is so bold that when I finally set everything together I decided it looked pretty garish against the other plantings in the area. In fact I had a hard time figuring out where to put it – our planting scheme has settled into the greenish yellow foliage/purple contrasting bloom color, and this plant really didn’t sit well with that palette which is in most parts of our yard. I ultimately planted it in a mostly neutral green spot against our ivy-covered north side fence, between a mountain hemlock and an escallonia.

    About Me

Hi! I'm Lorie and I wrangle plants in a muddy, feral shade garden in the Pacific Northwest. I built this site to serve as a gardening journal and quasi-accurate record of planting successes and failures. My goal is to help "future me" be a better gardener. I hope what I've learned along the way can be useful to you too. Thanks for visiting!
