Baby Blue Sawara Cypress

Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Baby Blue'

I snapped this one up when I saw it tagged ‘best in part sun’. It does get a bit dry in its spot in the summer so the interior has gone a bit brown but appears happy and healthy as long as I don’t fiddle with it to look at the inside.

Additionally, John bought me two mini-sized sawaras that I planted in pots – one on the back deck, the other on the front steps.

UPDATE 2021: The deck stairs specimen is looking much brighter and bluer now that it’s getting more sun.

    Nursery Tag

    Slow growing to 6' x 4'. Best in part sun. Zones 4 - 8

    Gardener's Log

06/2019: Planted at base of deck stairs

08/2020: Planted a baby version in a pot with other mini conifers

I got 3 small (tiny) trees in a Xmas arrangement I bought for an outdoor decoration. After Xmas I pulled out the Xmas stuff and was left with 3 trees that survived the winter I am a gardener so I can’t just dump them. Year 3 I know what they are but not many people want trees and I am one of them OH my!!! lol
