Variegated Japanese Aralia

Fatsia japonica 'Spider's Web'

This pretty fatsia japonica will hopefully get as giant as promised. I’m banking on the 5-8′ feet (as shown in the nursery tag) to fill up the bare mulched area beneath our giant Blue Atlas Cedar. I water it quite a bit during summer to try and help it along. So far it’s about 2′ x 2′ after a 1 year.

Doing well despite the dry soil conditions where I planted it. Would likely be more vigorous in a better spot.

    About Me

Hi! I'm Lorie and I wrangle plants in a muddy, feral shade garden in the Pacific Northwest. I built this site to serve as a gardening journal and quasi-accurate record of planting successes and failures. My goal is to help "future me" be a better gardener. I hope what I've learned along the way can be useful to you too. Thanks for visiting!
