Pineapple Lily ‘Tiki’

Update 2023

Well, at least one of these has survived to 2023 but has never grown more than 3″! This year I transplanted the lone holdout to the easement to see if it will do any better in that spot. After a month in its new home, it’s holding on – we’ll see if it grows past its miniature state!

I’m not sure these tropical-looking bulbs will be hardy enough to last through our winter, but I’m taking a chance! The nursery tag states zone 7 (we are zone 8), but I’ve planted them on the west side of the house in a somewhat sheltered location. I don’t have the patience to run around pulling bulbs in fall, so they’ll have to tough it out in the ground. So we shall see if they pop up next year.
