Micro-miniature Cattail

Typha minima 'Europa'

This plant died!

Sadly this plant just sort of disappeared. And I never actually saw cattail ‘sausage’ form before it died.

This little cattail is super cute. It hasn’t put up any actual cattails this year but I’m hoping to see some in 2018. The blades currently stand about 16″ tall and have a lovely blue cast, which is a nice complement to the nearby iris varieties.

Planted in the bog garden at the end of the creek in May 2017. Jury is out as to whether it will tolerate some shade. So far so good!

About Me

Hi! I'm Lorie and I wrangle plants in a muddy, feral shade garden in the Pacific Northwest. I built this site to serve as a gardening journal and quasi-accurate record of planting successes and failures. My goal is to help "future me" be a better gardener. I hope what I've learned along the way can be useful to you too. Thanks for visiting!
