Golf Ball Pittosporum

Pittosporum Tenuifolium 'Golf Ball'

This plant died!

The north facing side of the shrub died due to frost. What a bummer, I love this shrub! Sadly I removed it, and will think twice about planting shrubs that are only hardy into zone 8.

I’ve seen this beautiful little shrub at a few arboretums (arboreta?), and finally bought one for our garden. I moved it around the yard maybe 4 or 5 times before deciding on a spot in the back. I really wanted to put it in a place I could see it (front yard? front sidewalk?) but ultimately decided it looks spectacular among the yellow grasses and next to the purple-red ligularia and Everred rododendron.

About Me

Hi! I'm Lorie and I wrangle plants in a muddy, feral shade garden in the Pacific Northwest. I built this site to serve as a gardening journal and quasi-accurate record of planting successes and failures. My goal is to help "future me" be a better gardener. I hope what I've learned along the way can be useful to you too. Thanks for visiting!
