Chocolate Snakeroot
Eupatorium rugosum 'Chocolate'
Chocolate Snakeroot emerges in spring with striking bronze foliage, followed by sprays of fluffy cream-white flowers in summer. Leaves turn a dark green as the season progresses. A great contrasting plant for the pollinator garden. Tolerates a range of conditions, including dry shade.
Different resources show a shockingly wide range of sizes for this plant. I opted to plant them closer together in case they do, in fact, stay as small as 1-2 feet, figuring if they start to grow into the 5-foot range, I can always move them.
