California Wax Myrtle

AKA: Pacific Wax Myrtle

Myrica californica / Morella californica

Super hardy and able to stand dry shade (according to GPP), I settled on these Pacific Wax Myrtles as a screen for underneath our newly limbed up chamaecyparis at the property line between us and the new house. Purported to grow quickly and quite large, I’m hoping to underplant these with smaller shrubs as I suspect they’ll get a little leggy without full sun.

    About Me

Hi! I'm Lorie and I wrangle plants in a muddy, feral shade garden in the Pacific Northwest. I built this site to serve as a gardening journal and quasi-accurate record of planting successes and failures. My goal is to help "future me" be a better gardener. I hope what I've learned along the way can be useful to you too. Thanks for visiting!
