Avalanche Clematis

Clematis x cartmanii 'Avalanche'

This vigorous vine may not like the pot where I planted it in 2019. Now that our house is painted I’m considering moving it to another location where it can spread its feet and show off a little better. In fact, it may not get enough sun in its current home. I’ve seen this touted as a shade plant, however some resources mark it as needing at least partial sun. Check back soon for a post-growing season assessment!

UPDATE: This guy bloomed for the first time in 2021, and profusely so! I’m pretty sure it’s due entirely to the additional light we receive on the back deck after the easement and vacant lot trees were removed.

    About Me

Hi! I'm Lorie and I wrangle plants in a muddy, feral shade garden in the Pacific Northwest. I built this site to serve as a gardening journal and quasi-accurate record of planting successes and failures. My goal is to help "future me" be a better gardener. I hope what I've learned along the way can be useful to you too. Thanks for visiting!
