Brewing Hops
After my sad Hyacinth bean vine seedling failure, I’ve been looking for vines to substitute into the spots where I intended to place those (I’m still holding out hope for the seeds I direct sowed though – just in case those come up, I planted this about 6″ away.) I
happened upon this hop vine while wandering through the nursery’s edibles section and figured, why not add this to the garage south wall? It goes with the ‘edibles’ theme in that area. I didn’t take into account that hops looks super similar to the raspberries not 2 feet away, so I’m thinking this might not be as contrasty as I’d like. But I am curious how it will perform regardless.
I had tried to grow hops on the north side fence years ago which was in way to much shade at the time – I think the vine came up again the second year but looked so pitiful I pulled it.
