Shade Grade: B
This lovely groundcover looks and smells great in the spring. Looks ratty by August, perhaps because the location is pretty dry. Spreads slowly but unwanted plants are difficult to pull.
Lily of the Valley
Convallaria majalis
This groundcover came with the house, and I’ve let it do its thing. Very pretty after it emerges, but is slowly creeping toward the sidewalk where I don’t want it to go. Unfortunately, even though I pull the volunteers they seem to be advancing every year! I think this would be a great plant to let wander in a moist area with concrete boundaries.
