Hardy White Begonia

Begonia Grandis 'Alba'

I became smitten with these Hardy White Begonias after spotting a sea of them at planted on a slope at the Van Dusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver. They weren’t even in bloom – just the leaf texture and color blew me away. Luckily I found and bought out the last 4 specimens at Savage Plants toward summer’s end. Despite planting so late in the year, they all came back the following season. These begonia appear a bit later than most other plants so they are a pleasant treat to see after most of its companions are finished blooming.

These get a B only because it's taking some time for them to fill in. Otherwise beautiful!

      About Me

Hi! I'm Lorie and I wrangle plants in a muddy, feral shade garden in the Pacific Northwest. I built this site to serve as a gardening journal and quasi-accurate record of planting successes and failures. My goal is to help "future me" be a better gardener. I hope what I've learned along the way can be useful to you too. Thanks for visiting!
