Hardy Plumbago

AKA: Leadwort

Ceratostigma plumbaginoides

I’d never heard of this groundcover until I saw them for sale at the local Ace hardware. The pretty green foliage is what caught my eye, and the fact that it’s super hardy, stays low (but not too low) and sports vibrant purple flowers in spring really sold me. According to some sources it can wander a bit in some locations, but I think it’s worth a try – it looks great lining the stone step path along the creek.

    About Me

Hi! I'm Lorie and I wrangle plants in a muddy, feral shade garden in the Pacific Northwest. I built this site to serve as a gardening journal and quasi-accurate record of planting successes and failures. My goal is to help "future me" be a better gardener. I hope what I've learned along the way can be useful to you too. Thanks for visiting!
