Golden Elkhorn Cedar

Thujopsis dolobrata 'Aurea'

I was so excited to see this conifer listed as liking filtered sun! One of those plants that I didn’t have a spot for, I finally bought it after seeing it a second time at the nursery and decided I had to have it. I dug up an old pieris to make room (which seems to be happily thriving in its new home despite me hacking off the majority of its root system). This slow grower is supposed to get to 30 feet in time, but the mature height is listed as 5 to 7 feet high by 2 – 3 feet wide, so we’ll see if I ever see the 30 feet they’re talking about.

    About Me

Hi! I'm Lorie and I wrangle plants in a muddy, feral shade garden in the Pacific Northwest. I built this site to serve as a gardening journal and quasi-accurate record of planting successes and failures. My goal is to help "future me" be a better gardener. I hope what I've learned along the way can be useful to you too. Thanks for visiting!
