Red Maranta

Maranta leucomeura

This interesting plant sports a beautiful red and green pattern on 4-inch oval leaves. Should it dry out a bit, the leaves curl up tightly, hence the common name ‘Prayer Plant’. I have two plants, one small and one large – they serve as a nice textural contrast to the other, mostly dark green companion plants in the sunroom.

Place potted plants in a tray of wet pebbles to increase humidity. Do not repot until plant outgrows its container. Avoid direct sunlight. Water sparingly in winter months.
